BOEUF BOURGUIGNON / BEEF BURGUNDY



BOEUF means BEEF
BOURGUIGNON means BURGUNDY. 
BURGUNDY is a region name in east-central France.

To be honest, I hardly to say the word in French. Well, to make easy you can call it "BEEF BURGUNDY". I never cook French cuisine before and every time I heard about French foods, sounds quite fancy! 

So I decided to challenged myself. I choose boeuf bourguignon with beef meat and Burgundy red wine as main ingredients. I use chuck beef but you can also change to sirloin or tenderloin beef. Because the cooking process will take times 3/4 hours so chuck beef perfect choice for slow cooking foods.

ALL INGREDIENTS YOU NEED
MAIN INGREDIENTS
▢ 2 Kg chuck beef
▢ 2 Cups Burgundy red wines
▢ 10 pieces pearl onion 
▢ 100 grams Bacon
VEGETABLES
▢ 200 grams Carrot
▢ 50 gram Onion
▢ 2 tablespoon Parsley
▢ 200 grams Button Mushroom
▢ 3 pieces Bay leaves
▢ 5 pieces Potatoes
SEASONING
▢ 2 teaspoon Kosher Salt
▢ 1 teaspoon Black pepper
▢ 1 teaspoon Corn flour
▢ 1 teaspoon Plain flour
▢ 2 teaspoon Butter

HOW COOK THE BEEF
Cut the beef into 4-5 cm sized pieces. Dry all beef with cooking paper towel to create perfect brown colour before fried into pan. Turn on the gas stove to medium heat and add vegetable oil likewise two cloves garlic. Wait until garlic get brown and smells nice. After that put all beef and cook for 5 minutes.

Make sure every time you buy beef in the supermarket or traditional supermarket. Always check the date. Fresh beef are moist, have nice red colour and smells good.
After 5 minutes cooked, beef ready to remove and move it to the pot. Next step and very important, add 2 cup red burgundy wine, tomato sauce, garlic and bay leave together than stir it, wait until several minutes and it is ready to cook for 4 HOURS. 
            

HOW TO PREPARE VEGETABLES
Second step is prepare vegetables as additional ingredients. Button mushroom, pearl onion, carrot and parsley. Also besides vegetables, I cut some pieces bacon and potatoes. 
For me, SALT, BLACK PEPPER AND GARLIC ARE MAGIC!
Without them, your dish does not taste so tasty. So three of best friends stick together on my foods as always likewise on vegetables to boost the taste.

 
With type less tender vegetables as Carrot. You need to boil them separately for 10 minutes or you can directly put it together with beef inside slow cooker for 4 hours to get tender.
PEARL ONION MUST HAVE FOR BOEUF BOURGUIGNON
You need Butter when boiling the pearl onion to make it tender and tasty.

Cook together garlic, onion and bacon for 5 minutes and mix well with the beef for 4 hours.

IT'S TIME! BOEUF BOURGUIGNON READY TO SERVE!


INSTRUCTIONS NEEDED
√  In the beginning of cook, I always prepare equipments and that day I need (Two medium fried pan, medium pot, slow cooker and cutting board). 

√  You can replace oven with slow cooker.

√ Mix carrot together with beef inside slow cooker or you can mix them after 2 hours.

√ Likewise carrot, 1 hour after beef cooked inside slow cooker. Mix all vegetables with beef.

√ Meanwhile 1,5 hours before Boeuf Bourguignon ready, boil 5 pieces potatoes as side dish. That night I choose roasted potatoes. You also can change to mashed potatoes. Next is turn on oven to 250c than place potatoes, cook it for 45 minutes

TIPS
If you not fan of chuck beef. You can change to Sirloin or another kind of beef you liked. For me, chuck is perfect for Slow Cooker foods because it get tender for 4 more hours cooking and taste delicious with all ingredients and burgundy red wine.
